We will start our trip on the Mediterranean coast. Malaga is the center of the “costa de solcosta del sol” which means “sunny beach”. Because the sun is shining over this beautiful city more than 350 days a year. We will see a part of this famous beach, botanic gardens of the city, Castle of Gibralfaro, cathedral of the city, Plaza de la Constitución, Roman theater, Andalusian castle, Picasso Museum, History of Art and Archaeology Museum, the Jewish quarter and statue of Salamon Ibn Gabriol one of the most important poet and philosopher of middle age, from outside in our panoramic tour. Then we will give free time in the city center for you to visit the exciting other museums of the city or , to explore remarkable boutiques for shopping or to taste famous tapas of the amazing Andalusian kitchen. At the end of our free time, we will continue to Granada for overnight.
After having breakfast we will drive to the lands of dreams of Al Andalus. Reaching Granada, Alhambra Palace, the “pearl” of Al Andalus, will be waiting for us. After a guided tour here for around 3 hours, we will start to explore beautiful Granada following the footsteps of Sepharic heritage. First we will see Albayzin, oldest district of the city, and reach Realejo, the famous Jewish neighborhood. In our way we will visit two important museums: Palacio de los Olvidados and Museo Sefardi. Later, we will see the sculpture of famous philosopher and the poet Yehuba Ibn Tibon and then we will reach Calle San Mathias, where most probably, the missing great Synagogue takes place. Later we will continue to our route to the city center and Moroccan bazaars, Calle Elvira, Plaza de Isabel la Catolica, Old Bedesten Corral de Carbon, Cathedral of Granada (from outside) and Arc of Elvira (the area which was located the old Jewish cemetery) will be some spots to visit in our way. In our free time in the city center, you have a chance to try “tapas”, incredible traditional food of Andalusia. We will finish this day in our hotel in Granada with unforgettable memories of this city.
Today we are heading to Seville, the capital and the biggest city of the modern province of Andalusia. We will start our visit with the avenue of palm trees and see the “casas” of the countries of American continent, Plaza of America and and will stop in the Plaza of España. Then we will continue our visit passing through the historical district “Santa Cruz” seeing old traditional houses of Seville and learn about the life of Jewish people in this significant city, and its narrow streets and feeling the memories of the inquisitional period. Upon reaching the Plaza de Triunfo (Victory Square) we will see the most famous monuments of Seville: The Cathedral of Seville, The Bell Tower: Hiralda, The Palace of Castilla Kings: Alcazar, the building of Indian Archives. After our visit here, we will have some free time for shopping and then will continue to our hotel in Seville for overnight.
Today we are leaving Seville and heading to Lucena, the city of science, famous for its Rabbi and Talmud schools in history and one of the most populated places with Jewish people. Well known medieval scholars Marmonides and Ibn Rushd (Averroes) started their education here, in this small town. During our trip here we will visit the San Mateo church which used to be an old synagogue, the Moral Castle from 11th century, the city museum where we will have an idea about the lives of Jews who used to settle here. Then we will visit a medieval cemetery with the remainings of 346 graves, which is also known as Jewish Necropolis. After our visit here will head to Cordoba. Upon arrival in Cordoba we will have a walking tour here passing through the streets of the old district, between old Andalusian houses, streets with flowers and fountains. Cordoba used to be the capital of Muslims for 500 years in the Medieval Period. It was known as the capital of scholars, capital of culture and the Andalusian caliphate. Ibn Rushd (Averroes), Ibn Meymun (Marmonides) Hasday Ben Sharput and many others worked and lived in this beautiful medieval capital. Cordoba is where the Jewishs had their golden age in Al-Andalus in X-XI century. You can still feel this unique history on the streets of the Cordoba. Also we will see the 2000 year-old Roman Bridge which remained from its Roman founders’ and the tower added by Muslims: Tower of Callahora and the marvelous mosque: Mesquita-Catedral of Cordoba. Then we will finish our walk with one of the most important Sinagogs in Andalucia and Safardi museum in the heart of the city. Overnight in Cordoba.
This morning we will drive to Toledo: historical capital of the Kingdom of Castilla. Toledo, an open air museum itsef, has been declared as a world heritage by UNESCO. We will start our trip in Toledo from San Martin Bridge, after which we will pass by the Jewish quarter and see old synagogues: Santa Maria la Blanca and Synagogue de Transito, best conserved synagogues in all of the peninsula. The Cathedral of Toledo, one of the oldest cathedrals in Spain, the main square of Zoco, Alcazar of Toledo, Castle of San Servando and iron workshops making exquisite “damasquinado” works will be other spots that we will see. After our visit in Toledo, we will head to our hotel in Madrid for overnight.
After breakfast we are heading to the modern capital and the biggest city of Spain: Madrid. We will start our visit with a panoramic tour by our bus. Plaza de Toro (bullfight arena), Plaza de Independencia, Puerta de Alcalá, Paseo de Castellana, Biblioteca Nacional, Plaza de Colón, Nuevos Ministerios, Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Plaza Castilla, Puerta de Europa, Plaza Cibeles, Palacio de Comunicaciones (Ayuntamiento), Banco España, Instituto Cervantes, Plaza Neptuno, Museo Prado, famous Gran Via (Broadway of Madrid) and Plaza España will be some spots we will see in this panoramic tour. Then we will leave the bus and visit the Sephardic Museum near the Royal Palace. Later, we will start walking to pass through Royal Palace, Cathedral, Calle Mayor, historical square Plaza Mayor and will stop in the main square of the city Puerta del Sol. After having some free time for shopping and to explore the city we will return to our hotel and rest. Overnight in Madrid.
Today is the departure day. Depending on the flight time, we will have some free time in the city, after breakfast at our hotel. Then we will drive to the airport.
